Introducing the family!

Here we are with the kids in April 2013 at Wheeler Farm.  We've had a fun 2 1/2 years as a family.  I sure do love my cute bonus kids and baby Gabe. We have lots of fun together!  We enjoy riding bikes, camping, four-wheeling, watching movies, playing games, etc.  Let me introduce everyone a little bit...catch up on the last couple of years (I know...I need to stay on top of this!).

Jacob
Jacob is working for the Dept. of Defense at Airport II in West Jordan.  He's working in PC right now but is currently top of the list to get a slot in flight school to pilot either the Apache helicopters or the Black Hawks.  Once he's got a slot we will be relocating to Fort Rucker, Alabama for a couple of years.
Jacob enjoys the outdoors and is going Elk hunting soon... archery.  We're hoping he'll get a big one so that we have lots of  Elk meat.  He's spent a lot of time working on the family cars, trailer, and four-wheelers this summer.  Quite the mechanic!

Kaelynn
Since I last posted I finished teaching Spanish at the charter school and taught a full year of Kindergarten. It was SO much fun!  I know I love working with little children.  They are so full of life and love to learn!  During that school year, however, I became pregnant and had a baby boy (Gabriel) in August 2012.  I've been a stay at home mom ever since.  He just turned 1 and I can't believe it.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay home with him and watch him grow!

I enjoy spending time with the family.  I like to do crafts and to bake.  Cooking is fun too, just not the clean up.  I have recently gotten back into exercise and feeling amazing!  I like to read when I have time (don't have too much) and spend time outdoors camping and four-wheeling.  I recently discovered that I am a good aim with a pistol, shot one for the first time last week.  Who knew?

Warren
Warren is our 10 year old history buff.  He knows everything an almost 5th grader could know about the civil war, revolutionary war, WWI, WWII, etc.  He's quite fascinated by it!  He asks me questions and 99% of the time I can't answer...he knows way more than I do!  He loves to play video games and would do it all day, every day, if we would let him when he is here.  He also loves to play board games that involve strategy such as chess, Battleship, Stratego, and really wants to learn to play Risk (but has had a hard time finding someone with 3-4 hours to play it with him).  He is also a HUGE fan of sports.  He loves playing them and watching them on tv.  He also enjoys watching the news with his dad and grandpa Bauer.  He wants to be in the Navy when he grows up (at least that's what he's said as of late).
My favorite memory of Warren was in January when we were in California on vacation.  We were driving by the beach and he looked out the window and pointed and said, "Look, I can see China from here."  We kindly corrected him and said that that was impossible.  He then responded, "Well, I can see Hawaii."  There was no convincing him that he couldn't see another land mass out there...All the adults in the care thought it was hilarious and have brought it up many times since then...not to him, of course.

Tyler
Tyler is 9 years old and is full of life.  He can be a little bit mischievous at times but we are so grateful that he is part of our family.  He's going into 4th grade this year and was given an award for "most improved reader" last year and was so proud of that.  Good work, Ty!!  This summer he really enjoyed swimming lessons and shooting his bow and arrow...the one he bought himself at Cabela's.  He was so proud of it.  It shoots so good it even shot a perfectly round hole in our blow up swimming pool!  He loves to explore the mountains when we go camping and loves to catch frogs and go fishing.  He tried fish for the first time this summer and said, "This isn't bad.  It kind of tastes like chicken with lemon on it."  He is a food smeller if it is something he is unfamiliar with.  So fun to watch!  He likes playing sports but is afraid of getting hurt so he didn't play baseball this year.  We suggested that he take up swimming or golf.
My favorite memory of Tyler was this summer.  After two days of Cub Country scout camp he came home and gave me a big hug and said, "Thank you so much for paying for me to go to scout camp."  Another one this summer was when we were camping and he came into the trailer (it was dark) and said, "Aunt Celeste is so mean.  She told me I had to go to bed."  They had been at the campfire.  We asked what he'd done.  He said, "Nothing.  Well, maybe I was kind of copying her a little bit."  Lol! Maybe.

Madilyn
Our one and only little girl (for now)!  She's 6, almost 7 and going into 1st grade this year.  Last year she went to Kindergarten at a charter school that focused on music, drama, and dance...couldn't be more perfect for her.  She could make up her own song that would never end...dancing while she sang.  She did that one time, in fact.  Grandma Bauer had to pretend she was still recording it it was lasting so long.  Madilyn is a drama queen...in a girly girl kind of way.  She loves to be the only girl and knows that she's spoiled and wants it to stay that way.  When we mention the possibility of having a baby sister one day she gets tears in her eyes and says that she doesn't want any sisters, just brothers.  She had better have a sister soon or we're in trouble.
One of my favorite memories of her is when she was 4 and we were driving to a family thing one Sunday and passed an ice cream store.  She asked if we could stop and get some.  Her dad replied that we couldn't because it was Sunday and Heavenly Father wouldn't like us to stop on a Sunday.  She replied, "Well can we get one on a dark day?"  So funny!

Gabriel (Baby Gabe)
Gabriel has been such a blessing.  He has been a good baby and has always been very mild tempered.  He's pretty content and just goes with the flow.  He recently turned one and I can't believe how fast the year went by.  He didn't have any desire to crawl until he was just over 11 months old (why would he when his older siblings, cousins, and aunts pick him up every time he makes a peep?).  He got his first tooth about a week and a half before his 1st birthday...and very soon thereafter came tooth 2 and tooth 3.  Made for a few restless nights.  Gabe likes to dance to music... Tyler calls it "grooving".  It is so funny to watch.  He makes kissy sounds, clicks his tongue, and lets you know when you've got something he wants (he's a squealer).  However, he's got a great personality.  You could say he is a flirt with the ladies and always checks to see if someone is watching him do anything...like stand up, dance,  or fall down.  He loves to go for walks in the stroller and rides on the back of mom's bike (until it gets old).  He LOVES being outside just like his mom and dad.
One of my recent memories of him happened yesterday (on his birthday).  We were at church in the foyer during sacrament meeting, we got there late.  We were feeding him some cut up bananas with a fork and he insisted that he wanted to do it himself.  We let him and a mess resulted.  We put the lid back on the bowl of bananas.  He took the fork and stuck it in the "bananas" (lid) and went to put it in his mouth and looked at it with confusion, "Where are the bananas?", I'm sure is what he was thinking.  Then the best part is that he tried it again!!  So cute!
